HVAC Service FAQs
Why does my AC run constantly but still struggle to cool my home in Bessemer?
Many homes sit in low-lying areas with higher humidity and limited airflow around the structure. Even a properly sized AC can struggle if attic heat load and duct leakage are ignored. We often find that the issue is not the equipment itself, but heat gain from poorly sealed attic access points and older duct runs pulling in hot attic air.
Are newer HVAC systems actually worth it for older Bessemer homes?
Yes but only if the installation accounts for the home’s original layout. Many older Bessemer homes were built without modern return air design. Simply swapping equipment without correcting airflow can reduce system lifespan. The value comes from pairing new equipment with duct and airflow corrections, not just higher SEER ratings.
Why do my energy bills spike so fast during heat waves?
Bessemer heat waves often include overnight humidity that prevents your home from cooling down at night. This creates a “heat carryover” effect where the system starts the day already behind. Homes without proper dehumidification or variable-speed operation feel this the most.

HVAC Diagnostic / Service Report Arrived on site and performed a thorough evaluation of the HVAC system. During diagnosis, it was determined that the system has additional mechanical issues beyond the previously identified compressor failure. At this time, replacing the compressor alone would not fully correct the system’s condition or provide a reliable long-term repair. Based on the overall condition of the equipment and the additional issues identified during inspection, further repairs will be necessary. The customer was informed that a compressor replacement by itself may result in continued system problems and additional repair costs. At this time, the recommended course of action is to contact American Home Shield (AHS) to discuss authorization and available options for replacing the complete outdoor condensing unit along with the indoor evaporator coil. Replacing these components together would provide a more complete repair and help ensure the system is properly matched, re
Kind of pricey
Need to re submit findings to ahs
I appreciate them getting a unit installed quickly, but the technician has been out 3 times after that, and possibly another time in the morning. It is not reaching its temperature that it's set on. I had an appointment yesterday and no one showed up.Nor did they call. They just left a house saying that it wasn't installed properly in the attic, and he had to tape it up. It was leaking air, it's set for 70, and it's reading 74, as you can tell. I'm very frustrated and upset after spending seventeen thousand dollars.
Arrived on job not keeping up due to supply not fully connected System back up and running properly
Arrived on site and performed a complete inspection and operational evaluation of the HVAC system. During testing, it was determined that the system was not delivering proper airflow throughout the home and was only producing a 12°F temperature split, indicating inadequate cooling performance. A thorough inspection of the duct system revealed a large opening in the upstairs ductwork, allowing a significant amount of conditioned air to escape before reaching the occupied living space. Based on the inspection, this issue appears to have been caused by a previous contractor who failed to properly seal and insulate the duct penetration during a prior repair or installation. The unsealed opening is resulting in substantial air loss, reduced system efficiency, and insufficient airflow to the affected areas of the home. At this time, the HVAC equipment is operational; however, it is not cooling the home properly due to the significant airflow loss caused by the damaged and improperly sealed
HVAC Service & Maintenance Report Arrived on site to perform scheduled preventive maintenance and a comprehensive inspection on all seven HVAC systems at the property. The customer recently had two of these systems replaced by our company, so special attention was given to verifying the proper operation and performance of the newly installed equipment in addition to the remaining systems. A complete maintenance inspection was performed on each system, including checking refrigerant performance, electrical components, capacitors, contactors, motors, blower assemblies, safety controls, thermostat operation, condensate drainage, air filters, and overall system operation. All systems were tested through their operating cycles to verify proper performance and ensure they were cooling and functioning as designed. Replaced all customer-provided air filters in each of the seven systems to help maintain proper airflow and system efficiency. After replacing the filters, each system was retest
Service Report Arrived on site and found the system was not operating due to the compressor not running. Performed a full diagnostic of the electrical components, including wiring and capacitor testing. Found the compressor capacitor was out of manufacturer specifications and not operating within the proper range. Replaced the faulty capacitor and restarted the system. Verified proper compressor operation and monitored system performance. Checked refrigerant pressures and confirmed they are within normal operating parameters. The system is now operating properly with no abnormal noises, electrical concerns, or performance issues observed. Completed final operational checks and confirmed the unit is functioning as designed. No further issues were found at the time of service. System was left running normally upon departure.
He was very professional and nice and got the job done pretty fast.
Arrived on site and met with the homeowner to address concerns regarding the air conditioning system not operating properly. Performed a complete diagnostic evaluation of the outdoor condensing unit and found the system was not functioning correctly due to a failed outdoor condenser fan motor. Verified that proper voltage is being supplied to the fan motor; however, the motor is non-operational and does not respond when energized. Further inspection revealed that the condenser fan motor is not moving air across the condenser coil as designed, causing the system to experience abnormal operating conditions. Due to the lack of condenser airflow, the outdoor unit is prone to freezing and overheating, which can negatively impact overall system performance and potentially cause additional component damage if operation continues. At this time, the outdoor fan motor has been diagnosed as failed and requires replacement to restore proper system operation. Discussed findings and recommended re
Arrived on site and performed compressor replacement due to a failed compressor. Removed the existing compressor and installed a new scroll compressor. Replaced all necessary components associated with the repair, brazed connections, and verified system integrity. Pulled the system into a deep vacuum to remove any moisture and non-condensable gases before charging the system to manufacturer specifications. After startup, thoroughly tested system operation and monitored refrigerant pressures, temperatures, and overall performance. Verified that refrigerant pressures were operating within the proper range and that the compressor was running smoothly and efficiently. Checked system airflow and temperature differential and obtained a 17.5°F temperature split between the supply and return air, indicating proper cooling performance. Allowed the system to run through a complete operating cycle and confirmed that all components were functioning correctly with no abnormal noises, vibrations,
Arrived on site and performed a full diagnostic evaluation of the system. Upon inspection, found the outdoor condenser fan motor had seized and was no longer operating properly. The failed fan motor caused the condenser to overheat, which resulted in compressor failure. At this time, both the condenser fan motor and compressor have been confirmed faulty and are preventing proper system operation. Recommend replacement of the condenser fan motor and compressor to restore normal system performance and ensure reliable operation.
Did a thorough tune up on my A/C unit.
Arrived on site and performed a comprehensive inspection of the entire HVAC system. Thoroughly evaluated all major components, including motors, coils, and capacitors, ensuring each was operating within manufacturer specifications. Verified proper system functionality, airflow, and overall performance. At this time, all components are operating as designed with no immediate issues or concerns observed. System is running efficiently and reliably upon departure.
There was whole/gap left from the install and I showed Corey when he came and he said he would repair it when he came to install the part and he installed the part but said someone would have to come back Monday to fix the gap. Like I explained to him I have problems with squirrels and stray animals. Other than that everything else seems to be find
