Upon arrival, a complete diagnostic inspection of the HVAC system was performed to determine the cause of the reported issue. After thoroughly evaluating the equipment, it was determined that the system is not operating properly due to damage consistent with a recent power surge. The surge appears to have affected critical electrical components, including the blower motor, preventing the system from functioning as designed. The customer was informed of the findings and advised to contact her homeowner’s insurance provider to determine whether the damage is covered under her policy. A replacement estimate for the blower motor will be prepared and provided for both the customer and the insurance company if needed. The customer stated she will contact the insurance company and plans to provide an update on Monday regarding how they wish to proceed. At this time, no repairs have been performed, and we are awaiting the insurance company’s response before moving forward with the recommended
Arrived on site for an AMS warranty service call to evaluate the customer’s HVAC system. Upon inspection, the system was identified as a 24-year-old unit operating on R-22 refrigerant. A full diagnostic evaluation was performed, and it was determined that the system is not operating properly due to low refrigerant levels, indicating a likely leak within the system. Given the age of the equipment and the phased-out status of R-22, repairs involving refrigerant replacement may be costly and temporary in nature. Further inspection of the air handler revealed that the blower motor assembly is out of balance, which is negatively impacting system performance and airflow. The blower assembly will need to be replaced to restore proper operation and prevent further damage to internal components. Additionally, a visual inspection of the ductwork showed significant mold growth throughout the duct system. This presents a potential indoor air quality concern and should be addressed promptly.
